Jammu, Apr 15: Govt. Degree College, R.S Pura organized a lecture on life, philosophy and contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti as part of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”.
The event was conducted under the patronage of Dr. G.S. Rakwal, Principal of the college and supervision of Dr. Anuradha, Convener Cultural Committee. The event started with a welcome address by Prof. Sheetal Devi. Prof. Rakesh Choudhary, Department of Political Science was the guest speaker on the occasion. In his lecture, he talked about the contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as a social reformer, economist, political activist and constitution maker. He spoke extensively about the role played by Dr. Ambedkar in upliftment of the downtrodden and in strengthening the struggle for improvement of status of women in the society.
He encouraged the students to take an inspiration from his life and follow his path. The programme concluded with formal vote of thanks by Prof. Vijay Kumari. Prof. Esha Abrol and Ms. Kajal Premi, members of Cultural Committee coordinated the event.
