EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 18: Vice Chairperson District Development Council Kishtwar Saima Parveen Lone today called on Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA).
During the meeting, Lone demanded to distribute flour instead of wheat among the people of block Chatroo, Mughal Maidan. Drabshalla, Thakrie and Bhunjwah since people cannot effort to grind the wheat due to absence of Hydel mills in the area.
Speaking to Early Times, Vice Chairperson Saima Parveen informed that many areas of Kishtwar District where the Food department is distributing wheat at its sale center instead of flour, adding that people can’t afford to arrange its grinding.
“In some villages there are no Hydel mills available for the people. Wherever if available it took 4-5 hours to people to reach nearest site for grinding the wheat,” said Saima Parveen.
She said that people living in rural areas of Kishtwar are poor and government must make arrangements for providing flour to the people instead of wheat so that they could save their precious time and hassle free access to the ration.
She said that she had also taken up the matter with Assistant Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Kishtwar who had been directed to arrange the flour for the people living in far flung areas of Kishtwar District, adding that she had also taken up the matter with concerned Director as well as with the District Administration.
“If government has decided to provide flour and wheat to the people in 30:70 ration, let then government install flour mills at block level in Kishtwar District.
Let government grind the wheat at these flour mills and supply it to the people. Our poor people can’t afford such hardship at the time when people are already suffering due to COVID-19 pandemic,” Lone said.
Lone said that she is hopeful that matter will get resolved. “We are here to address the problems faced by our people, providing of wheat instead of flour is a matter of great concern for them.
Let it be addressed once and for all,” Saima Parveen maintained, adding that she will take review of the same in coming days.
