EARLY TIMES REPORT

BASOHLI, Apr 18: Reiterating PM Narendra Modi’s commitment to develop rural areas by equipping them with the ultra-modern infrastructure, District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Kathua, Col (Retd) Mahan Singh said that rural infrastructure is the cornerstone of overall development of the nation.
The DDC Chairperson stated this during an interaction with the people at Hutt Mashka, Gagrode in Basohli and Mara Patti in Mahanpur. He was on a visit to this village to take stock of the problems of the people of these areas here today.
Addressing the people on the occasion Col (Retd) Mahan Singh said, under the Modi government, the development in the rural sector has received massive impetus which has resulted in tremendously bridging the gap between rural and urban life.
The people of the area expressed gratitude to the DDC Chairman for considering their long pending demand regarding construction of 15 km road work under PMGSY and resolving the issue of shortage of staff in the local hospital. They also submitted a memorandum of issues and demands to the DDC Chairman on the occasion.
After listening patiently to their grievances, the DDC Chairman assured to take up blacktopping of PDC road from village Maska to village Khajura and extension of another Shara Maska road upto Hutt village under PMGSY as sought by them in the memorandum.
Moreover, the DDC Chairman also assured to repair all the defunct hand pumps in the area very soon so that the people of this area do not face any problem on this count in the upcoming summer season.
Singh assured that besides development of the area he will ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach their doorsteps even in the remotest area. He said only then we can say that the objective of good governance has been achieved.
