Early Times Report

RAMBAN, Apr 19: JPDCL, Projects Wing, has augmented power supply capacity of Receiving Station Banihal by installing 6.3 MVA transformers, along with 33 KV Bay, successfully under IPDS scheme involving an expenditure of Rs.1.00 crore, here today.
As per Executive Engineer, JPDCL, Batote, Nasir Hussain, the enhanced capacity of Receiving Station shall help provide better power supply to Banihal benefiting over 30,000 people residing in areas including Chamalvas, Kaskoot, Chapnari and Doligam. He said that due to the overloading of transformers, JPDCL was facing many hardships in maintaining uninterrupted power supply to Banihal area. The Executive Engineer further informed that it will also help minimize power curtailment in the area, especially during the ongoing holy month of Ramadhan, thus bringing respite to the people.
The unprecedented overloading had forced the Department of STD to revert to earlier curtailment schedule, since the power system was unable to bear and sustain the present levels of load, the Executive Engineer added. The Department has urged the general public to use power judiciously, commensurate to their agreement load.
