Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 28: As J&K registers new records in the daily surge of COVID-19 infections, senior Congress leader Rajinder Parshad Sharma has appealed the people to strictly abide by the preventive measures. Sharma said the increase was primarily driven by a significant increase in social gatherings at restaurants, markets, weddings, shopping malls and elsewhere.
He said, COVID-19 is a deadly disease impacting the health of individuals, their livelihoods and the economy. It will only decrease if individuals and all public and private sectors abide by preventive measures strictly and consistently.
“We have reached a tipping point in our year-long fight against COVID19. The virus is spreading like wildfire and is weighing heavily making people’s life unbearable on different fronts, he added. He appealed state administration to increase number of beds in district hospitals in view of ongoing situation and oxygen plants should be established at the earliest. He also appealed to double the vaccination centres in the district. He said we should have trust in our institutions and in health systems. False information through social media is creating much misunderstanding. Sharma appealed the people to double check the messages with facts which are forwarded in social media.
