SRINAGAR, Apr 28: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a surge in fresh Corona Virus cases and virus related deaths with 3,023 new cases being reported in the past 24 hours and 30 deaths taking place during the same period of time.
Kashmir valley that has been bearing the brunt of fresh cases reported 2,034 new cases with the Jammu division reporting 989 fresh cases. Following today’s cases the total number of positive cases in the union territory reached 1, 69,077 while the death toll reached 2,227. In Kashmir valley 18 deaths were reported with 12 deaths being reported from Jammu division.
Srinagar district reported 951 new cases followed by Jammu district 499 cases, Baramulla district 246 cases, Budgam district 199 cases, Anantnag district 160 cases, Kulgam district 145 cases, Rajouri district 90 cases, Kathua district 87 cases, Pulwama district 82 cases, Kupwara district 79 cases, Ramban district 71 cases, Udhampur district 61 cases, Bandipora and Shopian districts 59 cases each, Reasi district 56 cases, Ganderbal district 54 cases, Samba district 50 cases, Doda district 27 cases, Poonch district 26 cases and Kishtwar district 22 cases.
Srinagar district reported 11 fresh deaths followed by Jammu district five deaths, Baramulla district four deaths, Samba district three deaths, Anantnag and Rajouri districts two deaths each and Poonch, Kathua & Kulgam districts one death each. So far 1,372 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 855.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,023 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 989 from Jammu division and 2,034 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 69,077. Also 30 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 12 from Jammu division and 18 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 963 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 306 from Jammu division and 657 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 69,077 positive cases, 24,313 are active positive, 1, 42,537 have recovered and 2,227 have died; 855 in Jammu division and 1,372 in Kashmir division.
Out of 71, 72,458 test results available, 70, 03,381 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 17, 84,112 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 93,728 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 24,313 in isolation and 1, 21,478 in home surveillance. Besides, 15, 42,366 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 41,489 positive cases, 7,481 active positive, 33,483 recovered, 524 deaths; Baramulla has 12,214 positive cases, 1,878 active positive, 10,140 recovered, 196 deaths; Budgam has 10,193 positive cases, 1,177 active positive, 8,886 recovered, 130 deaths; Pulwama has 6,916 positive cases, 703 active positive, 6,114 recovered, 99 deaths; Kupwara has 6,790 positive cases, 730 active positive, 5,959 recovered, 101 deaths.
“Anantnag has 6,532 positive cases, 923 active positive, 5,502 recovered, 107 deaths; Bandipora has 5,353 positive cases, 344 active positive, 4,945 recovered, 64 deaths; Ganderbal has 5,308 positive cases, 400 active positive, 4,859 recovered, 49deaths; Kulgam has 4,010 positive cases, 934 active positive, 3,016 recovered, 60 deaths and Shopian has 2,944 positive cases, 225 active positive, 2,677 recovered, 42 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 33,635 positive cases, 5,673 active positive, 27,503 recovered, 459 deaths; Udhampur has 5,799 positive cases, 467 active positive, 5,269 recovered, 63 deaths; Rajouri has 4,633 positive cases, 661 active positive, 3,909 recovered, 63 deaths; Kathua has 4,379 positive cases, 526 active positive, 3,793 recovered, 60 deaths; Doda has 3,719 positive cases, 205 active positive, 3,449 recovered, 65deaths.
“Samba has 3,482 positive cases, 566 active positive, 2,867 recovered, 49 deaths; Reasi has 3,339 positive cases, 840 active positive, 2,481 recovered, 18 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,925 positive cases, 90 active positive, 2,813 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,882 positive cases, 271 active positive, 2,578 recovered, 33 deaths and Ramban has 2,535 positive cases, 219 active positive, 2,293 recovered, 23 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 69,077 positive cases in J&K, 19,139 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
