DDC Poonch reviews implementation of social welfare, ICDS schemes

POONCH, Apr 28: District Development Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet today took a comprehensive review of the various schemes and programs being implemented in the district by the Social Welfare Department and ICDS, here in a meeting of concerned Officers.
The meeting was attended by PO ICDS, Dr. Mohd Tanvir; District Social Welfare Officer, Mohammad Shakeel; CDPOs of different Projects, TSWOs, Wardens Gujjar Bakerwal Hostels Boys and Girls; warden Pahari Hostel; Superintendent Nari Niketan, Administrator OSC and Women welfare officer of MSK.
A threadbare discussion was held with regard to the Aadhar Seeding of all the pension holders; implementation of Poshan Abhiyan; enrollment at each Anganwadi centres; status of pension schemes being implemented by Social welfare Department; progress achieved under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign and working of one-stop centre for women and Mahila Shakti Kendra in the district.
The DDC directed to achieve 100 % Aadhaar seeding of bank accounts of pension beneficiaries for eliminating duplicates. He also emphasized the importance of weeding out processes in ensuring that benefits entailed under pension schemes reach genuine beneficiaries and so that the genuine left out beneficiaries can be included in the list of pension holders.
The Social welfare officer was directed to carry out the weeding out process on a routine basis as this would also help in clearing the pendency to some extent.
The DDC also reviewed the status of the different scholarship schemes and other schemes being implemented by the Social welfare department.
While taking review of the services being provided by the ICDS, the Programme Officer gave details about the activities undertaken under various schemes like Supplementary Nutrition, Health Checkups, Mahila Shakti Kendra Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Poshan Abhayaan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG), BBBP and OSC for Women.
"Anganwari Centres play a vital role in the overall development of the children and there is a need to increase the enrollment in the Anganwari Centres" the DDC directed the PO ICDS. He also advised them to make Anganwari Centres vibrant and joyful Centres and ensure all the services are being provided to the beneficiaries.
While reviewing the progress under Poshan Abhiyan, the DDC passed on instructions to carry out surveys of the malnourished children and implement the scheme as per the objective. The DDC also directed to cover all the left out beneficiaries under the Pardhan Mantri Matra Vandana Yojana.
The Nodal Officer Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao was directed to carry out an elaborate mass awareness campaign at the Panchayat level about the scheme and lay focus on sensitizing the School dropout girl children.
The DDC exhorted the officers to ensure effective implementation of all schemes in a focused and concerted way so that the desired objectives are achieved at the grassroots level. He also said there is a need to create more awareness among the rural population about the schemes and asked them to devise a mechanism so that the last soul can be sensitized about the government schemes. He also stressed the prompt delivery of the services.
