ANANTNAG, May 4: Finally after waiting for over a year, the Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag Tuesday got a fresh ambulance.
The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Piyush Singla handed over the ambulance vehicle to the hospital Medical Superintendent in DC office premises. Senior officers of Anantnag district administration were present on the occasion. “The ambulance was donated by the National Highway Authority of India to Jammu and Kashmir Government. Each district got two ambulances and here in Anantnag one vehicle was provided to Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag as the ambulance vehicles they have are lying dysfunctional,” an officer told Early Times.
The officials at Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag said that after media reports, GMC Anantnag authorities have also paced up the process for repairing two ambulances that are lying dysfunctional from the last twenty days. “This hospital is facing shortage of ambulances and other equipment from last more than one year. We have raised this issue with GMC authorities multiple times but nothing was done,” they said. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag today asked private hospital owners to reserve 10 beds for COVID-19 patients. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla today held a meeting with the private hospitals’ and nursing home owners of the district at DC office Anantnag, here.
Addressing the meeting, the DC said the private hospitals have an important role in treatment of Covid positive patients especially in emergency situations.
He impressed upon the owners to earmark 10 beds each with low/medium flow oxygen and other basic facilities in their hospitals which may be used for emergency purposes.
Dr Singla directed the health authorities to prepare a database of the private hospitals with respect to the level of existing facilities so that the patients may be admitted as per need and available facilities.
The hospital owners expressed full support and cooperation to the administration for fighting the pandemic.
