KVK, Reasi promotes use of ICTs in agriculture amid COVID-19

Reasi, May 7: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi scientists are using the interventions of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) amid the COVID-19 pandemic to solve the field problems of farmers at their villages. Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr.Banarsi Lal encouraged the farmers of Reasi and Udhampur distts. to use the ICTs in the best possible way so that KVK, Reasi scientists can solve their field problems and provide them authenticated information at their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that KVK, Reasi scientists are providing the real time agricultural information and advisories to the farmers by using ICTs to overcome the constraints caused by COVID-19.He added that KVK sole objective is to timely support the farmers and increase their profit margins even during the pandemic. The high response of the farmers from both the districts indicates that farmers are in need of technical advice on agriculture and market access. Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi, KVK Scientist said that we are continuously replying the quarries of farmers satisfactorily and facilitating them to market their farm produce. Farmers are asking the quarries such as management of insects-pests and diseases in different crops, quality seeds, weed management, post-harvest technologies, marketing etc. through phone calls, Watsapp messages, video calls etc. and KVK scientists are communicating their expertise in an effective manner and providing the relevant information on agricultural crops. In this context ICTs are significant to connect the farmers even from the distantly located areas with the KVK, Reasi experts to clarify their concerns. Farmers have been suggested to follow all the SOPs while performing their field and marketing activities.
