Cloud Bursts in Akhal Kagan

Srinagar, May 6: As the Meteorological department on Friday predicted the hailstorm with thunder shower in the parts of Central and South Kashmir in the afternoon, a cloud burst in Akhal Kagan with no loss of life or property damage was reported hours after, as per MeT official. The weather forecaster on Friday afternoon predicted that the Ganderbal and Kangan of Central Kashmir is going to receive a hailstorm which would be accompanied by a thunder shower. He said that this weather system is going to be observed during the coming one hour from now. However, barely a few hours later, a cloud burst in Kagan’s Akhal occurred, as per MeT, during which no casualty or loss of property was reported. Further, the MeT also predicted that the thunderstorms and hailstorms are going to be observed in Rajouri and South Kashmir’s Shopian and Kulgam districts on Friday afternoon.
The weather update said that “Possibility of thunder shower accompanied with Hailstorm most likely over Ganderbal, Kangan, Rajouri, Shopian and Kulgam dist during next 1 hour from now.”
Pertinently, the official also confirmed that "Cloud burst has occurred in the upper reaches (forest area) of general area Akhal, Kangan. So far no report of any loss of life/ property. Police party deputed."
