UGC Keeps Offline Examinations in Temporary Suspension During May 2021

Srinagar, May 7: University Grant Commission (UGC) has directed Higher Education Institutions to keep all offline examinations in temporary suspension in the month of May 2021 to avoid physical gatherings on the campuses. UGC in its official letter has conveyed to all the Vice Chancellors of the Universities and the Principals of the Colleges that the offline examinations should be kept in abeyance during May 2021. Whereas, regarding the conducting of online examinations, UGC said that the Higher Education Institutions should first examine local conditions and make sure they are prepared by following Covid19 guidelines issued by the Central/State Government, Ministry of Education or UGC from time to time to prevent spread of the infections and for the safety and health of all stakeholders.
Keeping in view the current scenario of Covid19, it is requested that Higher Education Institutions may keep the offline examinations in abeyance during May, 2021 to avoid physical gathering at the campuses and also to provide must needed to the students, faculty and staff who are presently occupied in fighting Covid19 in one way or another, read the letter.
It further reads that the situation may be relooked by the HEIs during next month for taking an appropriate decision in this regard. The UGC letter, which contained details related to the temporary suspension of examinations in ongoing May, was undersigned by Rajnish Jain.
