Declare all media houses as frontline COVID warriors: UDA

JAMMU, May 10: United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Convenor Rajiv Mahajan on Monday urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to declare all media houses (Print and Electronic) in Jammu and Kashmir as Frontline COVID warriors.
UDA convenor Rajiv Mahajan urged the Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir UT to declare the all media houses like print media and electronic media houses including Owner, Editor, sub editor, PageMaker, Photojournalist, Video journalist, hawkers, printing machine operators and other staff members of all media houses as Frontline warriors of COVID in order to cover them under the risk insurance and other government relief and other incentives in the grim COVID situation.
Data including names and designation of all the staff members of all media houses is lying with Directorate of Information and Public Relation office in Jammu and Kashmir, he said adding that the lists should be updated in consultation with the media houses so that they are up to date. “This will ensure that no people employed in media houses are left out,” Rajiv Mahajan said. Several state governments have already declared all aforesaid employees as Frontline warriors and covered their risk. He lauded the Media houses, who are taking great risk to cover the very serious situation of COVID-02 and are doing service to humanity and highlighting the shortcomings in the system to come to the rescue of suffering people.
