Early Times Report

Surankote , May 10: JKPCC general secretary and DDC member from Surankote A constituency Shahnawaz Choudhary alongwith Sohail Malik (DDC member from Surankote B constituency) on Monday demanded opening of Mughal road for general public during this pandemic.
While addressing press conference Shahnawaz Choudhary said that he is demanding opening of Mughal road from last many weeks and in this regard he requested DC Poonch, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, LG but it seems that no one is willing to listen the problems of Peer Panjalis who are suffering. He questioned the intention of UT administration behind this ill informed decision as road connectivity of whole nation is functional except this road which connects Peer Panjal with valley where patients can get better treatment during this pandemic as health infrastructure of Peer Panjal is not up to mark. He said that he feels helpless seeing the patients collapsing in front of his eyes. He cited some media reports in press conference to fact check claims of administration that Mughal road is closed due to snowfall. He said that many students, doctors, govt employees are suffering and facing problem because of this illogical decision. Sohail Shahzad Malik while addressing media said that it takes 4 hours to shift patient from Poonch to Srinagar whereas it takes more than 16 hours to shift patients from Poonch to Srinagar via Jammu. Patients are losing critical hours while travelling and some patients lose their life in this process.
Both of them gave 2 days ultimatum to LG administration for reconsidering their decision otherwise on Wednesday both of them will sit on dharna in front of DC office Poonch. If administration still fails to address this issue then administration would have to face dire consequences.
