5/19/2021 10:14:03 PM

eARLY tIMES rEPORT

Srinagar, May 19: Expressing concern over the non availability of anti-COVID vaccine in Kashmir valley, former Union minister and senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz on Wednesday said a senior Health and Medical Education official admitted shortage though asserted that the issue has now been resolved and fresh supply has been received.
“The general run of people in Kashmir have started raising their deep concern for the non-availability of anti- COVID vaccines in Kashmir”, Prof Soz said in a statement this afternoon.
He said as of now, this vaccine is not available at any hospital in Kashmir valley including the premier Government Hospitals, including SMHS and SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, Srinagar. “I explained the concern of the people of the valley to Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, J&K Government Atal Dullo, today who while accepting that there was shortage of vaccines at the hospitals in Kashmir valley, said that the difficulty (shortage of the vaccines) has been resolved as the fresh supply of vaccines have been received for distribution for the hospitals throughout Kashmir” Prof Soz claimed.
He said Dulloo further informed me that vaccines would be available at all hospitals, today.
Prof Soz said he has no reason to disbelieve Dulloo, therefore, I assure the people, particularly in Kashmir valley, that vaccines will be available in Kashmir, immediately.
"Meanwhile, I checked up the facts on the availability of the vaccines in the hospitals in Kashmir with the President Doctors Association Kashmir, who has also confirmed the availability of the Anti Covid vaccine," Prof Soz said.
He said it is now clear that the problem of shortage of Anti-Covid Vaccines has been resolved and now, this vaccine will be available at all hospitals in Kashmir and elsewhere. However, he said, he had not received any complaint about the shortage of this vaccine in Jammu.
