EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, MAY 19: All J&K 1947 POJK Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum (SIF) called an emergency meeting under the Chairmanship of Adv Amrik Singh and joined by Surjit Singh, general secretary of the Forum. The Forum expressed its anguish over the large-scale casualties of people due to COVID virus while the state administration has closed its eyes because neither the beds nor the doctors and para-medical staff is available. People are frightened of getting admitted in GMC Jammu and other local hospitals because they don't expect their recovery due to the carelessness and shortage of infrastructure in hospitals, the patients are dying unattended and they feel better to stay at home under self quarantine rather than to be in hospitals.
The members urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to personally intervene and convert the banquet and marriage halls into Covid centres like other states and provide sufficient beds and ventilators. The Forum appealed to the Lt Governor to give priority to people’s lives not to the other unwanted issuer at this crucial time. The Forum appreciated the dedicated efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on pandemic remedy issues. The members who joined the meeting via video conferencing included Inder Singh Sooden Corporator Ward No 44, Jagjit Singh publicity secretary, Paramjit Singh Shingari, Kuldeep Singh Retd Grp Capt H.S Sudan, Prof KD Singh and others.
