KVK Reasi extends help to farmers amid COVID-19 pandemic

Jammu, May 19: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) is continuously supporting the farmers through different activities like by providing agro and allied sectors advisories and agro inputs during the COVID-19 crisis.
According to the Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, the technical guidelines on different crops such as maize, blackgram, green gram, sesame, fodder, vegetables, fruits, medicinal and aromatic plants, floriculture etc are continuously provided to the farmers by the KVK, Reasi even during lockdown period.
He said that KVK, Reasi is providing the technical know-how on quality seeds of different Kharif season crops and formulations of organic inputs such as biopesticides, biofungicides, biofertilizers etc. to the farmers so that the effect of COVID-19 pandemic can be minimized. He informed that KVK is providing necessary guidelines to the farmers by effectively utilizing the ICTs.
He narrated that farmers have been encouraged to increase the quality and quantity of their crops production even during the COVID-19 pandemic by using the scientific technologies. He added that special guidelines on fruits, vegetables and waste flowers management have also been provided to the women Self Help Group (SHGs) members and they have been advised to prepare and sale their processed products. KVK is also facilitating the farmers to market their farm produce.
He further said that scientific technologies on organic farming, floriculture, poultry farming, mushroom cultivation, dairy farming etc. are also continuously communicated to the farmers and rural youths are encouraged for the agri-entrepreneurship development so that their income can be increased even during this critical time.
