| Illegal mining on in Mandi, Poonch | | |  Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, May 20: Locals of Mandi area in this frontier district have alleged that the illegal mining is going on unabated at the banks of Mandi-Poonch river under the very nose of the authorities.
Mohammad Younis of Kalani while talking to Early Times said, “I have approached all officials of the district administration but till date no action has been initiated against the erring persons.”
Locals alleged: “There is a person very close to a top official.”
“Mera bhateeja top officer hai, muje permission hai,” locals quoted the person as having said.
Younis said, “When we brought this matter into the notice of police we were told they have permission to carry out mining of the whole river.”
Younis urged DM Poonch Inderjeet,DDC chairman Poonch and SSP Poonch to take action against the erring miscreants.
When contacted Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) headquarters Nawaz Ahmed said that if allegations are found true action under law will be taken against the erring miscreants. |
