Fast paced initiative
5/25/2021 12:13:07 AM
Union Health Ministry seeking the help of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to set up temporary 500-bedded COVID-19 hospitals one each in Jammu and Kashmir regions is a big respite for the pandemic hit people.
The work on these hospitals at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu and at Khonmoh in Srinagar is going on at war footing basis. Both these health facilities are likely to be thrown open for the people soon. The fast paced initiative taken by the Centre has proven beyond doubt that if the government wants it can do anything and setting up of these hospitals within a few days is ample proof of it.
For both the temporary COVID-19 hospitals 313 posts have been announced in Jammu and Srinagar and Medical Superintendents for both the facilities were appointed recently.
The outbreak of the second wave of COVID-19 has taken Jammu and Kashmir by a storm as the government run hospitals in both the regions are overburdened and people are struggling to get a bed in these health institutions. The DRDO hospitals to a great extent will help in addressing the issue of space crunch and would support the health infrastructure in the union territory that is at the verge of getting collapsed.
Besides the hospitals being set up by the DRDO, the Army has set up health facilities for the people in different areas across Jammu and Kashmir. These temporary hospitals are equipped with the oxygen fitted beds and some beds have been provided with the ventilators.
The Army and other security forces are lending a helping hand amidst the crisis so that people are not left in lurch.
Recently, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, announced setting up of 5-bedded COVID-19 care centers at every Panchayat so that the people get an immediate treatment. The LG led administration has also ordered increasing the number of beds in the tertiary care hospitals across J&K. All the major health facilities across the union territory have been designated as the COVID hospitals and patients are being treated in these health facilities.
The government has stood with the people and no stone is being left unturned to ensure that a common man is provided with all the facilities to fight the deadly virus that has been changing its colour every now and then. The steps being taken by the present J&K regime for the welfare of the people are visible and everyone is hoping that virus will be defeated.
