Modi government is anti farmer, anti poor: Ravinder Sharma
5/26/2021 11:12:10 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 26: Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has expressed deep concern over the ‘arrogant’ attitude of Modi government towards the genuine demands of the agitating farmers in the country and accused it of being anti farmers and pro rich.
JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that farmers are the back bone of the nation and steal frame of the economy and progress of the nation and this kind of rigid approach with them is wrong. He said the farmers in Jammu region are already facing the brunt of wrong policies of the government as the maize produce was purchased by middlemen at the rates of Rs. 1,100 per quintal against the government MSP of maize at Rs. 1,800.
“Now the farmers are compelled to sell wheat at the rates of Rs. 1,500/1,550 per quintal against the MSP of Rs. 1725 per quintal as there is no procurement centre in entire Rajouri district and very few in several other districts. This is to the great disadvantage of the farmers and the government is ignoring it deliberately,” said Ravinder.
He said the farmers are rightly agitating for the rights of 62 crores farmers in the country and for their independence and autonomy and if the laws are not withdrawn or amended, the farmers shall suffer a lot.
