Early Times Report

Poonch, May 26: Despite strict directives by the Lieutenant Governor to the Health Department as well as the local administrations to provide COVID care kit to positive patients but in Rajouri and Poonch, the directions are not being followed by the respective administrations.
Many patients, when contacted to find out whether they have been provided the COVID care kit in Poonch and Rajouri district, they informed that no such kit has been provided to them till date, which clearly indicates that the respective health authorities have taken this matter non seriously.
The main purpose of the initiative was to reach out to COVID-19 patients in home isolation at their doorsteps and providing them special COVID care kits free of cost and wherein the medical health and revenue teams were to deliver the special COVID-19 Care kits contain an Oximeter, medicine kit, vitamins, cough syrup and also pamphlets of dos and don'ts during the isolation period to COVID-19 positive patients at their places of residence.
But unfortunately the drive has not taken off in the Rajouri and Poonch. Although in Jammu district, the process has been started with full pace but the far off districts are not taking the directions seriously due to which the people affected from this virus have been deprived of this benefit.
“At a time when oxymeter is not available in the market and at some place oxymeter is being sold in black, the administration seems to be in deep slumber,” they alleged.
It has been learnt from the sources that during visit of Divisional Commissioner Jammu in these districts where he had held meeting with the concerned health authorities and asked them about the requirements, the health authorities had maintained that there is no shortage of any stuff but factually, nothing is available in the health centers, even the common RAT test kits are not available as per requirement. Not only this, even the BJP politicians including MP Jugal Kishore, Ravinder Raina had visited the hospitals in the Rajouri, and Poonch but they didn’t go inside the hospital and returned back.
