Appeals eligible persons to get vaccinated in 18-45 targeted drive, hails efforts of PRIs/ULBs for Covid Mitigation

ANANTNAG, May 26: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr.PiyushSingla today briefed about the Covid Mitigation Measures taken and achievements made so far to combat the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in the district.
While giving a brief regarding the Covid-19 scenario, the DC said presently there are 3911 active cases and Covid kits containing oximeters and essential medicines are being timely distributed among positive persons.
“District Administration has geared efforts to establish 5 bedded Covid Care Centres at all 335 panchayat Halqas with all basic equipments which will further augment the bed capacity in the district”, he informed.
Dr. Singla further said the present bed capacity stands at 280 oxygenated and above 670 non-oxygenated beds at multiple Covid Care Hospitals/ Facilities and with fresh augmentation of 1675 beds at Panchayat level it will go to above 2625 beds in the district. “With a strong referral system in place and proper linkage with formal health centres, the move will prove vital for boosting the Community Triaging and Community led Covid Mitigation in rural areas,” he emphasised.
Regarding recovery rate, DC said 9439 patients have recovered so far and the present recovery rate is about seventy (70) percent with the recovery trend improving since last week. Meanwhile, positivity rate and death rate have also declined to around 10 % and 1.13 % respectively besides aggressive testing especially in containment zones is being followed with above 2000 tests being done per day, he added.
The DC informed that a number of eligible persons from media, service providers, etc in the 18-45 years high risk group got vaccinated on day one of targeted vaccination drive and appealed to the eligible persons to get vaccinated at their nearest special vaccination site being set up by health authorities in collaboration with the administration. “The faster immunisation of high risk groups will drastically bring down the infections,” he remarked.
Highlighting the relief and welfare measures taken for the vulnerable sections as part of Covid assistance, Dr.Singla informed that 589432 beneficiaries received free ration under PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojnabesides 30081 registered construction workers got a total amount of Rupees 30081000/= (Rs. 1000 to each worker) this month.
The DC hailed the efforts of Health, Revenue, Police, Rural Development, Education, ICDS, Municipal and officials of other line departments for Covid Mitigation and thanked the stakeholders including PRI’s, ULBs, Auqaf members, youth and volunteers for supporting administration to mitigate the prevailing situation. He urged people to stick to the precautionary measures besides strictly following the SOPs and guidelines adding the collective efforts we will help to overcome the situation.
