NMC demands release of DA installments to employees, pensioners
5/26/2021 11:12:52 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 26: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today reiterated its demand of release of DA installments till June 2021 in favour of both Central/UT employees and appealed the Prime Minister to re-consider the decision.
“Reconsideration of the earlier decision (freezing of DA installments) of the Central Government has become inevitable due to steep hike in prices of essential commodities,” said Subhash Shastri, NMC president in a statement issued.
He said that dearness relief is not wage increase.
It is just compensation against the erosion of real wages and the cost of living, he added and stressed on the need to release of DA installments of employees and pensioners.
Shastri pointed out that the salaried class of the country is at the fore front of battle against COVID-19, risking their safety and life. He added that freezing of DA will severely impact life and living of salaried class and pensioners as DA is the only source with them to cater the dearness needs.
The NMC president demanded an early release of three installments of 4,3, and 4% DA due from January 2020 and July 1, 2020 and January 2021 to both Central/UT employees and pensioners so that they might get sigh of relief from price index.
Pleading the cause of several thousands daily rated workers working in the various departments of Jammu & Kashmir Government, He urged the LG Manoj Sinha to pass directions for timely disbursement of long pending wages of daily rated workers.
Shastri further demanded separate wage head for regularly disbursement of monthly salary of daily rated workers till their regularization, enhancement of their wages to Rs 600 per day, regularizing their services under SRO 64, setting up Labour Welfare Board, implementation of all Central laws in the UT besides granting medical allowance of pensioners to Rs 1000 per month at par with Central Government.
