JAMMU, May 26: The Batwal Youth Development Committee (BYDC) today mourned the demise of Thoru Ram Lakhotra.
Retired from Indian Army in 1978, he was 85 plus and lived at Village Bhadrore in Jammu. “Very few people reach this age.
I am thankful to God for keeping me fit”, Thoru Ram Lakhotra had said during a function a few years ago.
Committee’s Spokesperson RL Kaith who had been in association with Lakhotra for the last 38 years said, he as a Sepoy of 9 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (an Infantry Regiment of Indian Army) took part in both 1965 and 1971 wars against Pakistan and was awarded ‘Stars’ for operational services. He spent one year in Pakistan’s prison.
In his message, Dr Ramesh Kumar Kaith said Lakhotra was very kind, humble and most considerate man.
He always gave valuable opinion in Batwal Community’s important matters. Committee members said his sympathetic behaviour, simple living, religious devotion, honest approach and thorough gently nature will always be remembered.
They prayed to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the noble soul and forbearance to family at this hour of grief.
