Jammu, May 27: To commemorate 75 years of India’s freedom struggle “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, Government Degree College, Ramgarh organised an online poster making competition on the topic ‘Say No to Plastic’.
Plastic pollution is the accumulation of plastic objects and particles in the earth’s environment that adversely affect the wildlife, wildlife habitat and humans. Avoiding the use of single use plastic is must for the betterment of environment.
The main objective of the activity was not merely to see the creative aspect but also trigger the thought process of students and sensitize them towards these burning and serious issues like plastic pollution.
It was overwhelming to see the level of creativity in the participants as the activity gained wide participation on this important topic. Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal, GDC Ramgarh stated that these kinds of activities increase awareness about environmental issues among students and should be organised from time to time. She added that the topic ‘Say No to Plastic’ should be taken as pledge and the alternative to plastic bags such as jute bags or paper bags should be taken into consideration. Liza Rani, Anuj Pangotra and Amanpreet Kour bagged the first, second and third position respectively in the competition and e-certificates were given to them.
