Govt employee dupes a gullible of Rs 80,000 on pretext of providing job of SPO

Jammu, May 28: In a case of cheating, a Government employee posted in the Civil Secretariat allegedly duped a gullible man of Rs 80,000 on pretext of providing a job of SPO in Jammu and Kashmir police.
The victim informed the Early Times that he came into contact with a person who claimed himself as a Government employee posted in the Civil Secretariat, assured that he can provide a SPO job to him and demanded money in lieu of the job.
The poor gullible made payment of Rs 50,000 in a JK bank account No. 0021040100046002 in the name of one GM Khan on 10-07-2020 and later the alleged Government employee demanded more money and managed to extract Rs 30,000 more from him.
The fraud employee gave a letter to the victim in order to maintain faith in the heart of victim which was addressed to the Inspector General of Police Jammu dated 15-07-2020 and shown issued from the personal section of Advisor (F) to LG Srinagar, with subject ‘Engagement as SPO in Police Department’. The letter further reads that Akash Kotwal son of Barf Singh resident of Shaja Doda District approached this office alongwith a representation regarding the subject cited above. The content of the representation is self explanatory in nature. In this connection, the undersigned is directed to request your good self to kindly into the matter and take appropriate necessary action on priority. The victim’s family requested IG Jammu to take action against the alleged government employee and demanded to help them to get their hard earned money back.
When Early Times contacted the ADGP Mukesh Singh, he farwarded the matter to SSP Jammu.
Meanwhile SSP Jammu asked the scribe to inform the victim to lodge written complaint with the office and assured that action will be taken against those who are involved in the fraud.
Despite repeated calls to alleged person for his version he didn’t pick up calls.
