CGPWA, Rotary, Vivekananda Hospital create O2 Concentrator Bank | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 2: The Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association, J&K, Jammu ( CGPWA) has joined hands with Rotary Club Jammu Tawi and Swami Vivekananda Charitable Hospital Amphalla, Jammu and created an Oxygen Concentrators Bank for free of cost use by the needy Covid patients who are taking treatment at home in Jammu. The Vivekananda Hospital would regulate these concentrators among the needy Covid patients in Jammu city. It is CGPWA initiative to reach out to the needy Covid patients at home in Jammu who need oxygen to come out of this deadly coronavirus that has taken a heavy toll of human lives in Jammu during second wave. It has collaborated with an international body dedicated to humanitarian service and Jammu’s reputed charitable healthcare institution, Swami Vivekananda Hospital. While the CGPWA has given three Oxygen Concentrators, Rotary Club Jammu Tawi and Vivekananda Hospital are contributing two oxygen concentrators each. If needed, more oxygen concentrators would be added in due course of time to help the Covid patients receiving treatment at home. Nearly 50 pensioners have contributed over Rs 3 lakh for Covid relief out of their pension, of which Rs 1.13 lakh have been deposited in to PM CARES Fund and remaining donation was used in purchase of Oxygen Concentrators to help local patients. Last year also, the Pensioners Association had contributed Rs. 3.11 lakh to J&K LG Relief Fund to fight against Covid. The modalities for creation of this Bank of O2 Concentrators were finalised at a meeting of representatives of all the three social and charitable organisations at Vivekananda Hospital here today. It was decided that Dr. Ramesh Gupta, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital would be the overall Incharge of O2 Concentrators Bank. He can be contacted for Oxygen Concentrator in person in the Hospital or on his mobile phone number 9419180710 from 8 am to 10 pm. Since there is great demand for Oxygen cylinders/ concentrators from many Covid patients being treated at home, these would be regulated properly. It would be given free of cost on production of Doctor’s prescription and proof of need for oxygen for use by Covid patients at home for five days, extendable to seven days. If the Covid patient’s oxygen saturation is not stabilized despite use of the concentrator in 5 days, the patient would definitely need high flow O2 and must be shifted to Covid ward of the designated Hospital. Keeping such patient at home on the complacency of O2 Concentrator would compromise his safety. No money would be charged for use of concentrator. The patient family must handle the concentrator carefully without any damage as it would be routed among other needy patients infected by deadly Covid. |
