| Even in 21st century, 21 Panchayats in Kishtwar haven’t seen electricity | | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishtwar, June 8: As many as 21 Panchayats of Marwah (12 Panchayats) and Warwan (9 Panchayats) blocks in Kishtwar District are without electricity even in the 21st year of the 21st century.
These villages having the population of nearly 45000 souls are mostly dependent on solar energy.
Locals informed Early Times that despite several promises made by the successive government, electricity hasn’t reached them and their villages are without basic facilities like proper roads, schools and health infrastructure.
“I have raised the issues pertaining to Marwah, Warwan & Dachhan blocks of Marwah Sub Division at various platforms but nothing has been done till date,” said Pooja Thakur DDC Chairperson Kishtwar.
Pooja said that after Dachhan gets electrified she will strive for extension of the transmission lines to Marwah and then Warwan.
She said that the government has spent crores to install electric poles and transmission lines in Warwan, but the entire exercise has failed. A probe should be ordered to ascertain why the officials failed to deliver. |
