COVID-19: J&K reports 866 new cases, 19 deaths

SRINAGAR, June 12: The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir reached 3, 06,638 with 866 fresh infections being reported in the past 24 hours. The death toll due to the virus reached 4,174 with 14 fresh deaths being reported.
Srinagar district reported 164 new cases followed by Budgam and Pulwama districts 71 cases each, Kupwara district 68, Baramulla district 66, Anantnag district 51, Ramban district 50, Doda district 45, Kulgam district 37, Jammu and Bandipora districts 34 cases each, Rajouri district 32, Ganderbal district 31, Poonch district 29, Samba and Reasi districts 20 cases each, Udhampur district 18, Kathua district 12, Shopian district eight cases and Kishtwar district five cases.
Rajouri district reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar and Doda districts two deaths each and Jammu, Samba, Poonch, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kupwara & Ganderbal districts one death each. So far 2,144 virus related deaths have occurred in Kashmir while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 2,030.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 866 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 265 from Jammu division and 601 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 3, 06,638. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, eight from Jammu division and six from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 2,153 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 707 from Jammu division and 1,446 from Kashmir division. Out of 3, 06,638 positive cases, 16,284 are active positive, 2, 86,180 have recovered and 4,174 have died; 2,030 in Jammu division and 2,144 in Kashmir division.
Out of 91, 29,947 test results available, 88, 23,309 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 22, 25,407 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 65,797 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 16,284 in isolation and 1, 35,517 in home surveillance. Besides, 20, 03,635 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 68,079 positive cases, 2,358 active positive, 64,910 recovered, 811 deaths; Baramulla has 22,650 positive cases, 1,648 active positive, 20,729 recovered, 273 deaths; Budgam has 21,746 positive cases, 1,178 active positive, 20,369 recovered, 199 deaths; Anantnag has 15,463 positive cases, 957 active positive, 14,314 recovered, 192 deaths; Pulwama has 14,365 positive cases, 1,303 active positive, 12,882 recovered, 180 deaths.
“Kupwara has 13,198 positive cases, 923 active positive, 12,123 recovered, 152 deaths; Kulgam has 10,667 positive cases, 708 active positive, 9,850 recovered, 109 deaths; Ganderbal has 9,265 positive cases, 481 active positive, 8,712 recovered, 72 deaths; Bandipora has 8,951 positive cases, 398 active positive, 8,455 recovered, 98deaths and Shopian has 5,491 positive cases, 308 active positive, 5,125 recovered, 58 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 51,965 positive cases, 2,144 active positive, 48,706 recovered, 1,115 deaths; Udhampur has 10,984 positive cases, 287 active positive, 10,566 recovered, 131 deaths; Rajouri has 10,338 positive cases, 574 active positive, 9,561 recovered, 203 deaths; Kathua has 9,057 positive cases, 158 active positive, 8,752 recovered, 147 deaths; Samba has 6,984 positive cases, 330 active positive, 6,537 recovered, 117 deaths.
“Doda has 6,322 positive cases, 994 active positive, 5,232 recovered, 96 deaths; Poonch has 5,813 positive cases, 820 active positive, 4,910 recovered, 83 deaths; Ramban has 5,582 positive cases, 387 active positive, 5,137 recovered, 58 deaths; Reasi has 5,496 positive cases, 157 active positive, 5,298 recovered, 41 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,222 positive cases, 171 active positive, 4,012 recovered, 39 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 3, 06,638 positive cases, 21,848 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
