EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 12: Natrang’s National Theatre Talk Show, ‘Young Voices of Theatre’ featured son of the soil, Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, New York alumni, Vikram Sharma today who is an accomplished actor, director and trainer. He shared his inspirational thoughts with the global audience at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu. Vikram Sharma has a highly rich and extremely diverse experience. As a performer, from doing Street plays in Jammu to performing on Off Broadway in New York to working in Mumbai as an Actor he has worked in all the mediums. As a theatre practitioner, over the years he has worked with hundreds of theatre enthusiasts from across the country. Be it the prestigious drama schools like National School of Drama, New Delhi where he is a Guest faculty or working with theatre enthusiasts in remote areas or using drama therapy in working with autistic children.
Presently he is engaged in doing his specialized MFA in Actor training and Coaching from the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London. He is researching on training actors in the 21st century in times of scattered and diminishing attention.
In an enriching conversation with Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee actor and Natrang’s senior artist Anil Tickoo, Vikram narrated his eventful journey in theatre which humbly started with Natrang where he worked as an actor for several years and developed the quest to enrich himself with more knowledge which took him to places and the journey is still on. Vikram feels that in India we have more people who want to learn but less places which can provide proper training. In this context, he explained some of his futuristic projects which are aimed to provide wholesome training to a large number of scattered actors. He strongly believes that training requires an aptitude of facilitation and a trainer needs to work on the skill of training.
