Samba, July 5: Despite spending crores to maintain Mansar Lake, a famous tourist destination in Samba district, nothing has changed on ground.
According to the details available with Early Times only plastic floats have been installed on the banks, where tourists can stand and see the beauty of the lake.
Tourists while talking to this newspaper said that there is no change in the lake, nor any development is visible.
“Toilets are filthy and need to be maintained. The lake is not only a tourist site, but also has religious importance and thousands visit here for the pilgrimage”, the tourists said.
He said that the lights installed around the lake and parks remain switched off most of the time. “Though a little bit of development can be seen around the Surinsar lake, the development is not visible in Mansar yet. We appeal to the authorities to repair the ghats, as the pilgrims and tourists feed the fishes from there”, they said.
A former sarpanch said that Union Minister of State, Dr Jatinder Singh had sanctioned Rs 200 crore for the development of Mansar Lake. “But only plastic floats and tiles too have been installed no other development work has started,” he added.
He said, “You will see the roads of the area in deplorable condition, the edges of the park are broken.”
“At present water level of the lake is low, the authorities should start the proposed development activities. Otherwise, it may take years for works to get completed. The Mansar Surinsar Development authority should complete all works in time so that sanctioned funds don’t get lapsed,” they added.
