Workshop on NAAC awareness for Jammu Colleges organized

JAMMU, July 19: A workshop on NAAC awareness for Jammu Divisional Colleges" was organized by Govt. Degree College Poonch.
Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department Sushma Chauhan discussed that National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC Accreditation) will be compulsory for all HEIs by the year 2022. Around 50 participants comprising Principals, IQAC Coordinators, faculty and other staff members of various Govt. Degree Colleges, Jindrah, Sarh Bagga Mahore, Kishtwar, Batote, Peeri/Kotranka, Kunjwani/Sainik Colony and, Marheen participated in the Workshop.
The event started with a welcome address by Prof. Khadam Hussain, Coordinator, IQAC, Govt. Degree College, Poonch. He extended a warm welcome to all the participants and Resource Persons of the workshop Dr. Ravender Kumar Tikoo, Nodal Principal, GGM Science College, Jammu. In his speech, he called for a focused attention at various criteria that have been prescribed by the NAAC which are highly objective, holistic and comprehensive and insisted on turning the focus on satisfying these objectives at the earliest possible so that the quality of education in the Colleges could reach to the next level and match with the best of the institutes within India and across the globe. In the technical session Professor M.H. Shah , Principal Govt. Degree College Poonch appealed the teaching, and non-teaching fraternity along with other important stakeholders of the affiliated Colleges to come together on one platform and motivate themselves to work even harder in order to accomplish the broader goal for getting best grades from the NAAC.
Major benefits for NAAC accreditation Colleges include NAAC identifying higher learning institutes and helping them to know their strengths, opportunities, and weaknesses through an informed review process. I ensure the workshop will be profitable and fruitful for everyone present here.
Later on in the question answer session Professor M.H. Shah responded to the questions as raised by the participants. Principals, IQAC coordinators and faculty from various affiliated Colleges discussed and got clarifications on various queries. Dr. Preeti Dubey from Govt. Women P.G. College, Parade Jammu and Dr. Zakir Hussain from GDC Poonch coordinate the Programme. Dr. Mahroof Khan, Dr. Jameel Ahmed & Dr. Tariq Hussain Sheikh from GDC, Poonch has provided technical support. The workshop was concluded with vote of thanks by Prof. Mohd Yaseen, Convener NAAC, GDC Kishtwar. He expressed his special gratitude to Department of Higher Education for their constant encouragement in conducting the workshop. He extended thanks to the organizers and all the participants from Different Colleges of Jammu Division for making the workshop, a grand success.
