Kacha Talab Bahu : Dilapidated streets, heaps of garbage, erratic water supply make lives of residents miserable
7/20/2021 12:15:19 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 19: Kacha Talab Bahu Fort area in Jammu City is a glaring example of apathy and neglect.
Residents of this area have been deprived of basic amenities like proper roads, sanitation facilities, electricity and water supply.
According to the residents streets were dug for laying water and sewerage pipelines but no one has paid any attention to repair the road after the work of laying the pipes was completed. “The streets were dug in entire Kacha Talab but till date no effort has not been made to repair this road,” they said.
“Huge potholes have developed in the area making it difficult for the residents to pass through them.
Even our vehicles can’t enter the streets due to ditches developed in them,” said Papu Kumar residents of Kacha Talab.
“Heaps of garbage have piled alongside streets remain unattended, which stink making it difficult for passing through the stretch. Not only this is even the water supply not made regularly, which has made our lives miserable as due to rising temperature, we can’t do anything without water, which is the main necessity,” alleged Darshana, Radha Devi.
Criticising the PHE Department for not providing adequate water supply, Bodh Raj said that a PHE supply pipeline was laid down in their area but it has not been made functional due to unknown reasons.
“Already we are facing a huge problem due to non availability of water but now the department has been making a mockery of the residents by just laying down this pipe line,” he alleged.
Informing about the problems being faced by the residents, another resident Bikram said that insanitation, dug streets and non availability of water supply have become major problems for them.
Although the concerned corporator had assured that soon the streets will be repaired and other problems will be solved but till date nothing has been done to mitigate their problem, he added.
“The condition of the streets is such that the stitches of a patient with recent surgery will be broken,” said Amit, another resident of the Kacha Talab.
