GCW Udhampur organises Webinar on "Basics of Capital Market"

UDHAMPUR, Aug 9: Govt. College for Women Udhampur in collaboration with Central Depository Scheme (India) Limited (CDSL) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) organised a Webinar on the topic "Basics of Capital Market" with the objective to equip the students with necessary information regarding the stock market and provide the students an academic base so that they can apply the same in equity market research for wealth creation.
Principal of the college Prof. Minu Mahajan was the chief guest on this occasion. The webinar was inaugurated with the formal welcome address by Dr. Mool Raj, HOD Urdu. In his welcome address he extended warm welcome on behalf of the staff and students of GCW Udhampur to all the participants and audiences.
Principal of the college Prof. Minu Mahajan in her key note address emphasized in detail the importance of capital market. She said that the capital market plays an important role immobilising saving and channel is in them into productive investment for the development of commerce and industry. As such, the capital market helps in capital formation and economic growth of the country.
The first session of the webinar was addressed by eminent resource person. Harbinder Singh Sokhi Manager Bombay Stock Exchange, North Zone Delhi. He presented his lecture through power point presentation on the topic introduction of Stock Market. In his address he elaborated in detail the functions of Stock Market. He also introduced the audience to the process of how to find and analyze stocks, proper entry and exit time of the stock market and provide the tools and techniques to understand the various facts of the capital market.
The second session was jointly addressed by Inderjeet Singh (Regional Head) CDSL and Sabzar Ahmad (IP) CDLS. They focussed on the various features of CDSL's like Dement account and pledging of securities. They also discussed that how CDSL facilitates holding and transacting in securities in the electronic form and facilitate settlement of trades on stock exchanges.
The webinar was attended more than 100 students and faculty members across India. The Vice President of CDSL Yogesh Kundnani was also graced the occasion. Entire program was convened and conducted by Dr. Mool Raj Assistant Professor GCW Udhampur. The other committee members involved in the smooth conduct of the program were Prof. Sanjay Kumar and Prof. Yash Paul.
