GDC Thanamandi observes national sports day

RAJOURI, Aug 28: Department of Physical Education, NSS unit and NCC unit of GDC Thannamandi observed National Sports Day with Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsava.
The programme was carried out on the college campus. The students participated in a series of sports activities to commemorate the day. The event was organized under the patronship of Prof. (Dr) Javaid Ahmed Qazi, Principal of the college. Prof Ajaz Nazir, Prof.Fatima Bi, and (Dr) Mohd Ibrahim lone Physical Director of the college were the organizers of the programme. The programme was in continuation with the celebration of 75 years of Independence, Prof. Raheela Mushtaq was the event coordinator of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsava. The programme started by the students and staff with the pledge recitation.
Activities included women Table Tennis match, Freedom Run 2.0 and Tug of War as seen in the photographs attached. Ms. Tahira Parveen student of 4th semester and Tabassum Naz student of 2nd semester were the winner and runner up respectively in Women TT Match.
Arfan Ahmed student of 2nd semester, Sajid Hussain student of 6th semester and Zaheer Alam student of 2nd semester stood 1st,2nd and 3rd respectively in the Freedom Run 2.0.
The Tug of War match was organized on the occasion in which all the staff members and a good number of students were present. Total 20 students took part in the Tug of War event with 10 students in each team. The toss won by Mohd Asif captain of Team 'A', in the presence of the Principal of the college, Physical Education Director and senior staff members. Team 'A' won the match captained by Mohd. Asif student of 4th semester. All the sports events were organized in a well disciplined manner by the sports committee.
