| NGO organizes plantation drive | | |  Early Times Report
Samba, Aug 29: An Non Governmental Organization (NGO) “We The Humans” today organized a plantation drive and planted more than one hundred tree saplings at SIDCO Ground Bari Brahmna.
The programme was organized under the leadership of Prashant Singh Charak, Puneet Singh Charak and Balkar Singh. Prashant Singh informed that today's plantation drive is part of the trust's target set up to plant 1500 saplings in Samba district by end of this month.
Meanwhile, Retd Principal District & Session Judge K Y S Manhas Chairman of NGO asked the government to come out with a concrete policy cum plan to curtail emissions of green gases upto a considerable level. Past one decade, our UT witnessed a spree of infrastructure development projects, especially on national highways, which also resulted in cutting of lacs of trees without compensating such losses with double the number of ethnic varieties of trees which were cut down to make way for development.
The government should make all executing agencies liable for all such gaps and should prevail upon these agencies to ensure that our depleting carbon sinks further grow up. |
