Early times report

Udhampur, Aug 29: Some Public parks in Udhampur town are in miserable condition as concerned authorities aren’t doing enough to maintain these places of public importance.
Despite district hospital Udhampur ‘Kayaklap’ award wherein Rs 50 lakh were given to the medical institution, the park within the hospital premises is in a dilapidated condition.
Sources informed that there is no proper waste management and no cleanliness in the hospital park and the waste and garbage collected is even burnt inside the park which spreads smoke and disturbs residents and inmates in the hospital.
It’s in place to mention here that the Kayakalp award is based on the performance in the public health care with facilities like facility upkeep, infection control, hygiene and sanitation, hygiene promotion and support services.
Some other public parks in the town too have been left unattended.
“Due to Covid guidelines public parks were closed in Udhampur but maintenance of parks is important. We urge the higher authorities to instruct concerned officers to maintain the parks,” residents said.
When contacted Medical Superintendent District Hospital Udhampur , Dr. Vijay Raina said that the park is jointly maintained by the hospital and an NGO.
He said that he was out of station and can’t comment on the matter but termed burning of garbage and waste in park as a wrong thing.
