Early Times Report

RS PURA, Aug 29: Taranjit Singh Tony DDC member Suchetgarh today visited Play Ground Sai Sardari in Suchetgarh constituency and met the youth of the area to take stock of the sports facilities in the area.
During his interaction with the youth, they apprised him about the problems being faced by them on account of non-availability of adequate sports facilities especially infrastructure in the area. They demanded specific facilities including track field, swimming pool, basket ball and volleyball courts, leveling of play grounds, badminton court and last but not the least hand pump so that drinking water is available to the youth visiting the playground for sports activities.
Meanwhile, Capt Retd Kamal Choudhary who was also present on the occasion volunteered to be a coach of the youth for track field on honorary basis. It is pertinent to mention here that Choudhary has played basket ball and volleyball at the National Level and also represented the erstwhile State in track and field National Level events.
Tony while addressing the gathering on the occasion said that in the coming days he will ensure that this small play ground gets transformed into day and night play ground by installing lights all round besides constructing roads leading to the play ground as the road stands already approved. He assured to bring the existing shortcomings in sports infrastructure to the notice of the sports authorities and RDD officials for the overall development of the play ground. He said that he will also try to get a football ground construct at Nikowal besides creating other sports facilities. He reiterated that unemployed youth who have nothing to get entertained in the area after availability of adequate sports facilities in the area will keep the youth away from drugs.
