Covid-19 vaccination drive begins at SKUAST

Jammu, Sept 3: COVID 19 vaccination programme (Special Drive) started today at Main Campus, Chatha, SKUAST-Jammu.
The drive was inaugurated by Chief Guest Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation; Prof. J. P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir; Guest of Honour Sh. Vibodh Gupta, BJP General Secretary, Union Territory of J&K, & Ex-MLC and Dr. J. P. Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu.
The programme was organized by Health Centre (Dean Students Welfare), SKUAST-Jammu in collaboration with Health Department, Jammu.
Prof. J. P. Sharma appreciated the efforts of Health Centre (Dean Students Welfare) of SKUIAST-Jammu for organizing the drive as registration of students in next semester is scheduled w.e.f 06th of September, 2021 and we are very particular that 100 per cent employees and students of the University are vaccinated.
He said 500 to 600 people are expected to be vaccinated and benefitted from this drive.
Chander Mohan Gupta, Hon’ble Mayor while congratulating Vice Chancellor for initiating the Vaccination drive said that COVID vaccination is very important and first step to contain its spread.
He referred the words of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in successful distribution of vaccination at National level.
He said Jammu is now having surplus stock of vaccines and we are trying through door to door campaign to aware and contact each and every person to get vaccinated.
He also praised Dr. J. P. Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu and his team who works day and night during COVID 19 pandemic to save public.
Vibodh Gupta, General Secretary, BJP also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Sameer Koul, Block Medical Officer, Suhanjana coordinated with Dr. Anil Gupta and Dr. Sushma Gupta, Medical Officer(s) of SKUAST-Jammu for successful organization of the drive. Earlier, Dr. Rajesh Katoch, DSW, SKUAST-Jammu welcomed all the dignitaries in the programme.
Dr. Poonam, Dy. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Deepak Khullar of Primary Health Centre, Bhour Camp, Dr. Jag Paul Sharma, Director Research & Registrar, Dr. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension, Dr. S.E.H. Rizvi, Director Education and Dean, F.B.Sc., Dr. Bikram Singh, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Head of Department(s) of Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Basic Sciences, faculty members and students participated in the drive following COVID 19 norms.
The programme ended with the vote of thanks.
