Poonch, Sept 3: Newly opened toilet complex at Krishan Chandra Park here has worn out within a short span of time evoking strong resentment from the locals and the elected councilor.
Imtiaz Salaria councilor of the ward number 4 while talking to Early Times said, “I have taken up the issue of this complex being not upto the mark with the concerned officials. They informed me that the work was allotted by Director Urban and Local Bodies Jammu to Parivartan (NGO) which further sublet it to local contractor.”
He said, “The work executed is totally sub standard and payments have been released without informing me. Not taking elected representatives into confidence is totally contrary to vision of Prime Minister who has repeatedly stated that empowering local representatives is the priority of the government.”
He warned that if such practices continue then he along with other elected councillors would tender resignation. “It is an open case of corruption and should be enquired and public should be informed. All public works should be executed in transparent manner,” he said.
He urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take cognisance and constitute a team of officials to probe the matter.
