One day sensitization programme organized

Jammu, Sept 3: J&K Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (JKSPM), State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA)in collaboration with National Institute of Social Defense(NISD), today organized one day sensitization program at Transport Nagar, Narwal, Jammu for the truck drivers.Around100truck drivers participated in the training program. The topic of program was “Drug Abuse Preventionand its Treatment”. Resource person on the occasion was Ms. Pooja Kumari and Ms. Shikha. The Chief guest on the occasion was Transport Union President, Manmohan Singh.As per National Action Plan on Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), Government of India(GOI) programs like this needs to be conducted on a regular basis covering all strata of society. Program was inaugurated by the chief guest Sardar Manmohan Singh, Transport Union President, followed by lecture of Ms. Pooja. She highlighted the Drug abuse problems in our society which is raising day by day. She discussed the various types of drugs and their effects on body and mind of the person. She made the participants aware about the problem that it is not only confined to the mind and body effects but it creates the family issues in the person’s life also. Second resource person, Shikha educated the participants about the various services for the drug abuse treatment available by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (Integrated Rehabilitation Center for addicts (IRCA),Outreach and drop-in center(ODIC) and Community Peer Led Intervention (CPLI).
Refreshment and pamphlets were also distributed among the participants. The training program ended with discussions and Question-answer session. Pooja Kumari ended the program with the vote of thanks. Komal Sharma, SLCA official concluded the program with vote of thanks.
