Mayor kick starts development works at graveyard in Gol Panjpeer

JAMMU, Sept 20: Continuing his endeavour to provide more development and civic amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor JMC along with Satpal Karlupia, Councillor of Ward No 32 today kick started the construction work of boundary wall around the Muslim Graveyard situated at Auqaf land near Gol Panjpeer, Talab Tillo Jammu. Farman Ali, Hazoor Ali and other Committee members of Graveyard as well as Lovkesh Gondhi, Rahul Mehra, PK Bhat, Palla Ram, Reena Gupta as well as other prominent inhabitants of the nearby localities and Ashish Bhasin, Assistant Executive Engineer and other Supervisory staff of Engg Divisions II also remained present there during the tour of the Mayor. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that it was one of the oldest Graveyards in Jammu and due to open area, our Muslim brothers were facing great hardships in performing the last rites of their known deceased persons as passersby often throw garbage, wastes in the area creating unhygienic condition in the locality and after sincere efforts taken by the concerned Councillor, the much awaited work of construction of boundary wall at the left over open areas have been started today with an allotted amount of Rs 8 lakh only.
Satpal Karlupia, Councillor, also spoke on the occasion and appeal to the locals not to throw waste materials, Household garbage, polythene etc. on the roadside and in the open area, always use nearby Municipal Dustbins or handover the same to vehicles owned/hired by JMC for proper and further disposal of garbage. The Management Committee members of the graveyard extended gratitude to the Mayor as well as Councillor of the ward for visiting the locality and steps taken towards redressing their vital issues.
