Jammu, Sept 29: 4,725 RSS volunteers served people during the first and second wave of COVID in J&K, Ladakh. Sewa Bharati-the social service wing of the RSS and its affiliates provided oxygen cylinders, concentrators, and medicines to thousands in need.
Jammu, September 29: Suffixed with the title of Ready for Selfless Services (RSS) for responding at every crucial event, Swayamsevaks of RSS worked round the clock during the first and second wave of deadly Coronavirus.
In its contribution to combating COVID-19, the RSS has activated its volunteers and the frontal organizations since March 25 to work at the ground level as helping the needy and underprivileged has been one of its top priorities. In UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the Swayamsewaks provided food, clothes, masks, sanitizers, and various daily utility items to the people who needed them the most. RSS also provided the PPE kits to the medical fraternity. This was disclosed by the senior functionaries of RSS, Jammu Kashmir while launching the video of social activities done during the COVID-19 pandemic to date at Trikuta Samvad Kendra here.
They elaborated that at 2995 places in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh nearly 4725 Swayamsewaks came forward to serve humanity in these crucial hours. They served 62,891 families across both the UTs as most of the people working in the shops, roadside rehries, laborers lost their job due to pandemic and needed immediate help. A total number of 87,161 ration kits were distributed among the needy people, whereas 4,35,770 food packets were also distributed to the people who were in immediate need of food. As mask is the one of the important item to contain the pandemic, RSS came forward and prepared the cloth masks at their different units and distributed among the people. A total number of 3,31,562 masks and 93672 sanitizers were distributed. To contain the COVID – 19 Swayamsevaks also Sanitized 4284 localities in city, towns and rural areas, the handout said.
They said RSS created 13 temporary residences for the migrant laborers as well as for those who were stuck midway during the lockdown. Help in shape of cash has been provided to the 1100 families during lockdown whereas 600 specially-abled persons were provided with assistance. The Swayamsewaks provided 510 PPE Kits to Corona warriors. Similarly, the immunity of the person is very much required to fight the COVID – 19, and Swayamsewaks distributed more than 40,000 packets of Ayurvedic medicines.
RSS which was founded in 1925, has started working in Jammu and Kashmir in 1940. Whenever a country faces any challenge man-made or natural calamity or aggression by the foreign countries, Sangh is always at the forefront. When the whole the world is facing a difficult time and more than 54 lakh people are infected by this virus in India the Swayamsevaks came forward and extended the helping hand toward the people.
