Navratra, Dussehra arrangements discussed

UDHAMPUR, Oct 1:- Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib today discussed arrangements for smooth celebration of upcoming Navratras and Dussehra festivals here at a meeting with the district officers and civil society members.
Threadbare discussions were held on arrangements related to security; Safe drinking water, Power supply; Barricading, First-aid, sanitation, checking of rates, Fire tenders, Repair of street lights, Illumination of various Chowks, Lifting of Garbage, deployment of police personnel, RTPCR testing, Traffic congestion in the town etc discussed in detail.
Necessary directions were issued to district heads to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective departments during the festival. The DC stressed upon the Police Department to make sufficient security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the festive season.
The CMO was asked to deploy a health team along with an ambulance for providing necessary health facilities. Xen PHE was asked to ensure regular supply of drinking water and Xen PDD was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the festival. Stressing on maintaining cleanliness in the town, the DC directed the CEO MC to take necessary steps in this regard. She also sought the cooperation of civil society in keeping the town clean. Keeping in view of the festive season, a committee comprising Tehsildar, Assistant Director FCS & CA, CEO Municipality and Food Safety Officer was constituted to conduct extensive checking of market to keep check on overcharging by the shopkeepers. General public was advised not to park their vehicles on the road side.
It was decided in the meeting that chowks shall be given to various bodies to decorate and clean it. Shopkeepers were asked to take RTPCR Tests on a monthly basis and the same will be updated on health card.
The shopkeepers were also asked to display the rate list of all the essential commodities for the information of general public. Further, the Traffic department was directed to deploy adequate number of traffic personnel at traffic jam prone areas to avoid any traffic congestion during the festival.
