GDC Kathua organizes symposium on Gandhi Jayanti

KATHUA, Oct 1: NSS Units of Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua celebrated Gandhi Jyanti on the eve of birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatama Gandhi. In this connection a symposium was organized under the patronage of Principal Prof Raj Kiran. The symposium was started with traditional lamp lightening followed by welcome note by Prof Manmohan Singh. The event was organized under ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ and ‘Clean India’ campaign. The theme of the symposium was “Role of Youth in Strengthening Peace and Democracy in the World.” Principal Prof Raj Kiran also addressed the volunteers and throw light on the role and importance of youth in strenthening peace and democracy in the world. More than fifteen volunteers took part in the symposium. First prize was shared by Naman Dogra and Amisha Devi, Alieshea got second position and third prize was given to Kashish. The other participants who took part in the symposium were, Tamana, Priyanka Devi, Manju Sharma, Anamika, Monica Chaudhary, Shivani, Sumegha, Rimpy and Abhishek Singh acknowledged with consolation prizes. On this occasion, a Clean India campaign was also launched in which parks in the college premises was cleaned. This campaign will continue for the whole October month especially from 2nd October onwards. The event was judged by Prof Sandeep Chaudhary from English Department, Dr Shub Kumar Head of Sanskrit Department and Dr Seema Devi Head of Hindi Department.
Prof Jaswinder Singh, Prof Rakesh Jasrotia, Dr Rachna Devi, Dr Kailash Sharma, Dr Shamsher Singh, Dr Kamaldeep Singh and Dr Jogbinder Singh were also present. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Prof Ritu Kumar Sharma NSS Program Officer. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Sakshi Bhau, senior most NSS volunteer.
