Rape by fake marriage; accused arrested from Andra Pradesh: Police

JAMMU, Oct 16: A written complaint was lodged at Police Station Reasi by a woman that one Mohammad Ashfaq S/O Mohd Razaq R/O Sarola Manjakote concealed identity & fraudulently developed a relationship with the complainant and repeatedly raped her in the garb of fake marriage. The woman on enquiry came to know about the fraud & abuse that has been committed against her body and mind. To further exploit the woman the accused floated objectionable pictures of victim on social media. On this case FIR no. 197 US 376 IPC has been lodged in Police Station Reasi and investigations set in. Fraudulent relationship with the woman in Reasi remained for two months for raping her.
The police team swung into action after lodging FIR, medical examination of the victim was conducted. Statement of victim was recorded U/S 164 CrPC before judicial magistrate. Working upon clues from human intelligence, the presence of accused was found in Andra Pardesh. Shailender Singh Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi constituted a special team headed by Sub Inspector rank officer and sent to Andra Pradesh immediately.
The accused criminal was arrested from Peddapuram, East Godavari, area of Andhra Pradesh, within five days of reporting of crime and brought to Reasi after obtaining transit remand from Court of JMIC, Peddapuram Andra Pradesh to face investigation & judicial process. Meanwhile, involvement of two more-Manzoor and Iqbal have been found in defaming the accused by sharing objectionable pictures victim on social media. Manzoor was arrested from Bajalta Udhampur and Iqbal has been is arrested from Reasi town.
