Clinical Jammu Sports overhauls SCC by 8 runs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Akhnoor, Oct 31: Jammu Sports Veterans overcame initial hiccups to subdue Singh Cricket Club (SCC) Akhnoor by six runs, taking 1-0 lead in the five matches T-20 cricket series being played at Government High School Ground Akhnoor. Winning the toss Jammu sports opted to bat first but could not capitalise on the move courtesy some inspired bowling from SCC bowlers. The SCC bowlers dominated early on and created a few ripples when they got rid of Mukesh Sharma (7 runs off 15 balls), Vikram Dogra (2 runs off 10 balls) inside the Powerplay overs. Skipper Jagdev Singh (37 runs off 37 balls) and Sunil Bali (15 runs off 13 balls) played sensibly to overcome initial blows. Later, a quick fire 32 runs of 16 balls by Yash Khajuria steered the Jammu Sports to a respectable total 125/6 in the stipulated 20 overs. For SCC, Sunny took two wickets whereas Bibhishan and Ajay shared wicket apiece. In reply, SCC batters started well and made good use of Powerplay and gathered 43 runs in the power play. But some inspired bowling performances by Vicky Dogra, Sunil Bali, Yash Khajuria & Jagdev Singh coupled by electrifying ground fielding restricted SCC at 118/9 in the stipulated overs, thus winning the match by 8 runs. Bibhishan (27 runs off 28 balls), Ajay (24 runs off 12 balls) and Vikas (20 runs off 10 balls) were the main contributors with the bat for SCC. For Jammu Sports Jagdev, Yash, Sunil & Vicky shared one wicket apiece. Jammu Sports skipper Jagdev Singh (37 runs & One wicket) was declared as Player of the Match for his all round performance in the match. |
