Mafia running mining business in Jammu, alleges Sarpanch | Says Govt order about Panchayats supervising operations confined to papers only | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 31: Sarpanch Kuldeep Verma on Sunday termed the government notification to supervise mining as a hollow claim. Verma while talking to Early Times said, “The mining business in Jammu region is being run by a mafia. The contractors are dictating terms and they are charging royalty as per their whims and fancies.” He said, “The government had issued an order that Panchayats will supervise the mining works in their areas. But that order didn’t see the light of the day as it was not implemented.” “My appeal to the Union Territory administration is to wake up from the deep slumber and stop this loot. People have stopped construction work as they are unable to afford the material which is being sold at the exorbitant rates,” Verma said. |
