GDC Chenani organizes symposium on History of Jammu as part of iconic week festival | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 31: Government Degree College, Chenani under the auspices of its NSS unit ‘Prayatna’, IQAC and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organized one day virtual symposium as part of the iconic week festival today. Dr. Shayam Narayan Lal, Professor and Director, Centre for History and Culture of Jammu & Ladakh, University of Jammu was the resource person in the said event. The theme of the event was ‘The History and Legacy of Dogra Kings’ in order to celebrate and to glorify the rich account and bequest of Dogra rulers. The precise title of the program was ‘Writing on the History of Jammu and the Agenda for Research’. Dr Shayam deliberated in detail on the political history of Jammu and Kashmir and opined that it is synonymous with the biography of Maharaja Gulab Singh. He stated that by his astute wisdom and diplomacy, Singh honourably regained the lost Jammu Raj of his ancestors and went on adding to Jammu Raj to ultimately create a vast empire of Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College stated that the Dogra dynasty revived the pristine glory of the Jammu region and it changed the Indian map by putting the Crown of J&K on its head. She said that it is this remarkable historical legacy that India is proud of. |
