Sports play important role in personality development of youth: Team Jammu

Jammu, Oct 31: “Sports activities play an important role in personality development of youth,” said Chairman Team Jammu while inaugurating a Mega Dangal with theme Say Not To Drugs, organized at Government Middle School, Nardiwala in Akhnoor Tehsil.
Large number of spectators from different parts of Jammu, Samba, Udhampur and Kathua witnessed the Dangal and appreciated the bouts played and efforts of organizers for holding this mega wrestling event. About 87 bouts in various categories having total money prizes worth 10 lakh were held. Two heavy bouts having money prizes worth Rs 1.5 lakh were the main show of the event and were respectively won by Wrestlers Sonu from Delhi and Wrestler Ghani from Malerkotla in Punjab.
In his address, Team Jammu chief, Zorawar Singh Jamwal appreciated the Dangal Committee especially its Chairman, DySP K D Bhagat, for arranging such mega Dangal. He said Dangals played an important role in keeping the youth on the right track and away from drug abuse. He further suggested to promote wrestling among females as well, so that girl students can also shine and bring laurels for J&K in wrestling events.
Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal further rued that lack of proper sports policy in J&K due to which youth are unable to exhibit their caliber despite having capacity and talent. He further said our the government should have a well planned policy for sports so that youth interested in sports can come from the ground level events.
Chairman, Dangal Committee, Nardiwala and DySP, K D Bhagat said such type of events revives our culture and are a beautiful example of communal harmony. Moreover such events also boost the natural talents of the people and keep them fit & healthy.
About 87 bouts were played and total bout money was 10 lakhs. Prominent among others who witnessed the mega event included retd Head Master S. Surjeet Singh, Bodh Raj, Kasturi Lal, Suraj Parkash, Kaka Cement Store, Munir Hussain Gas Agency and Ashok Kumar Targah, Sarpanchs Shamsher Singh, Rashpal Sharma, Tarlok Chand Sharma, Ajeet Kumar, Rohit Sharma, Jagdish Sharma, Parshant Sharma, Devinder Singh, BDC Chairperson, Smt Sushma Sharma, Sarpanch Smt Nisha Malhotra and Naib Sarpanch, K K Sharma.
