Tajinder expresses concern over recurring road accidents in J&K | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 31: Renowned social and political activist Tajinder Singh said not one factor but many combinations, results in recurring road accidents in hilly areas of J&K, where many precious lives are lost and wounded every year. Singh said fault not only lies on the driver and conductor of the vehicles but equally on those who got themselves get into the vehicles with more than the capacity , usually the overloaded vehicles while negotiating a turn is vulnerable to mishaps as driver lost control over it resulting in a tragic accident. He said absence of traffic police on these hilly roads and the resultant absence of checking of over loading of passengers or overtaking at dangerous turns and curves contribute towards tragic road accidents. Singh said poorly maintained roads with ditches and pits with hopeless traffic worthiness in hilly areas too play the devastating role in resulting accidents. Government must take strict action on concern departments and espically traffic police to remain active on the hilly roads and traffic police must put their efforts on high to check over loading and over speeding of vehicles, and concern departments must make a comprehensive policy ,a long term action plan to check the recurrence of dreadful and disastrous accidents in hilly areas of J&K UT, Singh said. |
